Natural Hair Products








Hair care products, especially good ones, can not only be expensive, but they can also contain chemicals that are harmful to your body and the environment. No chemicals have to be used to make these products below, so these homemade hair care products will be kind to your hair, skin, and environment.

It is possible to develop hair care recipes to meet your needs. No special ingredients are required to make your own organic hair products. Natural hair care products are easy to make and the ingredients easy to find. All of the ingredients included below can be purchased at your local grocery store.

The most important thing to remember is that the better quality the ingredients, the better the end result will be. Use the freshest ingredients whenever possible. Certified organic ingredients offer you the reassurance that the ingredients you are using have been grown without the use of harmful chemicals or chemically derived substances.

Remember good hair care is influenced by what goes in the body as well as what goes on the hair, so a good diet will help promote healthy hair.

Some of the most common ingredients used in homemade hair conditioner products are:

  • Mayonnaise
  • Honey
  • Chamomile
  • Yogurt
  • Avocado
  • Fruit
  • Warm Beer
  • Oils

  • Coconut Milk
  • Coconut Oil
  • Dried rosemary Leaves
  • Apple Cider Vinegar

(Note: Boil all herbs in a little water, cool, and strain. Use the water as your ingredient.)






Oils for hot oil treatments:

  • Coconut oil
  • Jojoba oil
  • Vitamin E oil
  • Rosemary oil

(Note: Hair must be shampooed after any oily ingredients, such as hot oils, mayonnaise, honey, yogurt, or fruits are applied to remove oils from hair.)


Any of these ingredients can be combined to make quality hair conditioners and hot oil treatments. Keep a note of what works well and what doesn’t. Experiment with ingredients to find the best results for you.


Homemade Deep conditioning Hair Conditioner
Ingredients:
Mayonnaise and/or plain yogurt mixed with one egg

Directions:
Apply one-half cup of mayonnaise or mixture to your dry unwashed hair.
Cover with a plastic bag and wait for fifteen minutes.
Rinse a few times then shampoo thoroughly.



Dry Shampoo for Oily Hair
Ingredients:
one tablespoon of salt and one-half cup of cornmeal or
Cornstarch or
Baby powder

Directions :
Dip large soft makeup brush in cornstarch and dust through oily spots in hair.
(A salt shaker with large holes can also be used.)
Allow to sit for five minutes.
Brush out with a brush or comb.
Repeat as necessary.


Homemade Hairspray Remover
If you want to get rid of sticky hairspray build up wash your hair as usual but work a tablespoon of baking soda into your lathered hair before rinsing.


Natural Hairspray
2 cups of water
1/2 lemon
1/2 orange
(A lime may be substituted)


Directions:
Cut the fruit into pieces.
Combine the water with the fruit.
Boil until the mixture is reduced by half.
Cool and strain the mixture.
Pour into a spray bottle.
Put in the refrigerator (or add one ounce of rubbing alcohol to keep at room temperature for up to two weeks) .
If the mix is too sticky you can add more water.
Spray can be used to spritz onto wet hair to add body to dry hair.


Natural Hair Gel
Ingredients:
One-half to one teaspoon of unflavored gelatin

Directions:
Dissolve the gelatin in a cup of warm water.
Put into a sealed container and refrigerate it.
Spray onto wet hair.


Dandruff Remedies
Ingredients:
Four or five dried thyme leaves
2 cups water

Directions:
Boil leaves and water for 10 minutes.
Cool mixture.
Massage into scalp.
Leave for thirty minutes.
Wash hair normally.

Ingredients:
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
100 grams of witchhazel
200ml of water

Directions:
Massage small amount into hair after washing.

Ingredients:
Warm apple cider vinegar

Directions:
Wash your hair with vinegar.
Leave it for 30 minutes.
Rinse off with plain water.
Do this regularly to stop dandruff.

Ingredients:
Olive Oil
Almond Oil

Directions:
Mix oils together.
Massage into your scalp.
Leave for 5 minutes.
Rinse.
Shampoo as usual if still oily.

Ingredients:
Two teaspoons vinegar (any type)
Six teaspoons water

Directions:
Apply to scalp before bed
Wrap head in towel.
Rinse with vinegar in the morning.
Repeat several times a week.

Ingredients:
One teaspoon lemon juice
Two teaspoons vinegar

Directions:
Massage into hair while wet.
